According to Jesus, a key concept in understanding (knowing) the doctrines (the teachings, the will and the way) of God, is
THE BELIEVER'S WILLINGNESS TO DO THE WILL OF GOD.
If we DO NOT WILL TO DO HIS WILL, we will remain blind to God's teachings (His will and His way).
We can either will or not will to do His will. God enables us to will to do His will, but God also allows us to not will to do His will.
God does not will for us or will against us, concerning salvation. His enabling restores to us the power of free choice, as Adam had free choice.
Our willingness to do the will of God enables us to know the will and way of God. This is part of the reason for so many people not understanding the truth of holiness of heart and life: THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO HIS WILL, which is to be purified and live righteously, therefore they cannot understand and accept the teachings of God concerning holiness of heart and life.
It is like the unsaved person who is not willing to be saved, rescued from sin, changed from a sinner into a saint; they cannot understand and accept basic salvation.
John 7:17
