Fox News just said that the first Pope to resign was Clement I in 101 AD. There was not even a person who was called Pope until late in the 4th century. Even then it was a slowly developing concept attached to the Bishop of Rome.

Don't be deceived by the Roman fallacy. Jesus never appointed Peter, or any other man to be the Vicar, replacement of Christ as head of the Church on earth.
