05/20/13 BEWARE THE SMOKESCREEN
A 501c3 in a church signifies that specific church has agreed to keep silent about the sins of the State, contrary to the Biblical mandate to, "Cry aloud, spare not..." The Church is not the tool of the State, but the body of Christ, doing the work and will of God. It is time for churches to come out from among State churches and submit only to God.
I know this is not what people intend when they get a tax exempt status for their church. They often think they are providing a financial advantage for the contributors or they are providing legal protection for their church or they are fulfilling their Christian responsibilities to the State. However, those are actually smoke screens that cover the fact that the local church is surrendering the Lordship of the church to the State. It is easier to just accept the idea of the 501c3 than to examine it in the light of Scripture and Church history.
