06/27/13 Ask Three People...

Ask three people who are the most Biblical and the most spiritually established and mature to help you evaluate your life. This evaluation should include your witness for Christ, you daily walk, your reactions to conflicts, your compassion, your humility, your patience, your honesty, your self sacrificing for others, your attitude toward others (people, races, genders, nationalities, religions, education, economics), your attitude toward sin and sinners, your vocabulary, your habits, your interests, your friends, your commitment to family and church.

I can think of a lot of reasons people will not want to do this. I can imagine the arguments against it, supposedly based on Biblical grounds. I am not saying that there are not potential problems with this. However, sincere and Biblical Christians should be able to do this, if they move slowly and seek God. If you have a mature, spiritual leader who can guide the process, it will be better. It is not an exercise in self promotion or putting people in their place. It is doing to others as we would have others do to us. It is preferring one another in honor, before ourselves. It is building each other up in the faith.

Wisdom in choosing your team is important. Spiritual and Biblical stability is essential, but sensitivity to family members and avoiding appearance of evil and dangerous ground. Gender selection must be considered. Give no occasion to the devil. Obviously there are other issues, but they should be answered rather than avoid this exercise altogether.

OK, I am guessing some of you are saying, "NO WAY." Then how about this. Write down the points I offered in the main post above, and answer them for yourself. Be honest, as if you were evaluating someone else. Then ask God to help you take it to the next level. Don't wait a long time to do this. Do it now. You can reap the benefits if you do it.

However, there is the danger of a self evaluation being useless, because a person may not see, or may not admit the flaws, weakness or sins in his own life. This is why it must go beyond the first level.
