07/05/13 TOTALLY WRONG

07/05/13  TOTALLY WRONG

I saw a poster the other day that implied/indicated that the Christian position supports government taxation in order to help the poor.

TOTALLY WRONG.
The Bible clearly separates the powers/responsibilities of the State from the powers/responsibilities of the Church.
The Biblical position is that the State has been given the sword (power) to protect the righteous and punish the wicked.
The Biblical position is that Christians, the Church has the responsibility to do works of mercy (feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, clothing the naked, healing the sick).

There are Biblical criteria that must be met, which the State will not enforce.
There are Biblical officers to execute these ministries, which the State does not have.

NEVER does the Bible direct Christians to raise taxes or pay taxes to take care of the poor. It is to be a work of love and liberty, not a forced tax.

The Bible clearly says that if a person does not work, neither should he eat.
The State is saying that the people who work should be forced to feed those who will not or do not work.
The Supreme Court has clearly said that the power to tax is the power to destroy.

People need to know the facts concerning Biblical Christianity and concerning legitimate government.
