07/28/13 METAPHOR...
about fishing

Fishing for various kinds of fish requires various kinds of baits (live, artificial, cut) and various kinds of methods (drift, trolling, jigging, traps, nets).

Satan also uses different baits and methods for different people. While some folks are drawn into sin through the crude and disgusting things of life, others are repulsed by those things, yet they are still drawn into sin through other temptations. Just because you are not tempted by the obviously evil things in life does not exempt your from temptation. After all, the bait looks good to the one being lured, but the end result is entanglement, captivity, death.

BUT REMEMBER...
1 Corinthians 10:13

(13) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

WOW, think about 1 Co. 10:13...
God is FAITHFUL...
He will NOT allow you to be tempted ABOVE (beyond) what you are ABLE to resist or escape.
He WILL make a WAY to ESCAPE.
You MAY (you have a choice) be able to bear it, endure it, stand up under it.

Sometimes a temptation is not intended to get us to do wrong, as much as it is intended to get us to not do right. God enables those who trust Him to refrain from doing wrong and to stand while doing right.

We are not only delivered from disobeying God's commands, we are enabled to do that which is pleasing in His sight.

Colossians 1:10
(10) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

1 John 3:22
(22) And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

God gives us STANDING strength/grace. (Standing strength is the strength to stand. Our STANDING is obedience to God by faith, our STANDING is not God counting us as something we are not).

1 Corinthians 16:13
(13) Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men (be the man), be strong.

Ephesians 6:10-13

(10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
*(11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
(12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
*(13) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Philippians 1:27
(27) Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
