07/31/13 METAPHOR to spread and destroy

07/31/13 METAPHOR
to spread and destroy

Okay, I know this seems like a simplistic comment, but... The nature of disease is to spread and kill other cells, or people, or at least make them sick. (Told you it would seem simplistic).

Here is my point (this is not a medical explanation, hehehe). When infection starts, it is not satisfied with destroying itself (excuse the personification). It spreads to other cells, other people. Often it attacks weak cells or weak people and destroys them.

The nature of sin is to spread and destroy, first the host, then other people. This is why sinful people are toxic, venomous, destructive. Sin is infectious, contagious, in the sense that weak people often submit themselves to the impact and influence of wickedness.

Wouldn't it be great if NO ONE ever allowed sin to corrupt them? But that ain't happn'n.

THEN, wouldn't it be great if sin only destroyed its host, and did not impact or influence other people?

Whether strong or weak, other people are victimized by a toxic, venomous, destructive person.
The spiritually strong are victimized in the sense that they suffer heartache, abuse, imposed losses.
The spiritually weak are victimized in the sense that they fall under the attack and they are infected with the same sinful attitude as their attacker.

SO, it is essential that we remain close to Christ and responsive to the Holy Spirit; allow God to cleanse, fill, enlighten, empower and lead us, not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Finally, there is not only help for those whom Satan seeks to destroy (1 Pe 5:8-10), there is hope for those who are presently under the power of sin and Satan. God has sent the gospel to sinners...
Acts 26:18
(18) To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

VERSES...
I wanted to post the passage from 1 Peter. I hope you take time to meditate on the great truths found in this short passage.

1 Peter 5:8-10
(8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
(9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
(10) But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
