1 Corinthians 8:5-6
(5) For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
(6) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
On the other hand, there are people who will never criticize or question some human leaders. That is because they are ascribing divine attributes to a finite creature. This is idolatry. It does not matter whether the leader is religious, intellectual, philosophical, successful, political, social or whatever. This is why people follow false leaders without question or compromise.
There is only One Who is worthy of your totally trust, loyalty and obedience. This is called worship.
Luke 4:8
(8) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Never let your admiration for another human being direct your thinking away from God and His revealed word.
Exodus 20:3-5
(3) Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
(4) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
(5) Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
The more you focus on the revelation of God, the more deeply committed you will be to God.
James 1:25
(25) But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
All men are wrong when they disagree with God.
Romans 3:4
(4) ...let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written...
