10/15/13 A DIFFERENT JESUS

10/15/13 A DIFFERENT JESUS

I looked up the words to an old Gospel Song favorite and saw an advertisement for the Mormon Church on the same page. The ad said, "Mormons Believe In Christ."

I would add, that Muslims also "believe in Christ" and the Bible says that the devils (demons, fallen angels) also believe in God and tremble (James 2:19). BUT REMEMBER THIS. Intellectual ascent (belief) is not the same as saving faith (belief).

The Mormons do not believe in the Christ of the Bible. The Christ of the Bible believed and taught that there is only one God. The Mormons believe and teach that there are a multiplicity of gods, and, in fact, they teach that God the Father was once a man as we are men and that we as men can become gods, as God became God.

Well, maybe you don't care about all that "theology and doctrine stuff." Fine, but you should care about honesty and accuracy.

The Bible says that men will believe in false Christs (Matthew 24:24), and the devil himself goes about as an angel of light, deceiving people, and leading them away from the true and living God by promoting a counterfeit (2 Corinthians 11:12-14).

A person can believe anything he wants to believe and he can call himself anything he wants to call himself, but he can only be a faithful follower of Christ if he believes in the Christ of the Bible.

PASSAGES...
James 2:19
(19)  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Matthew 24:23-24
(23)  Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
(24)  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15
(13)  For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
(14)  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
(15)  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
