I went to pick Jonathan up from the airport the other day. When I got into Joanna's van I was greeted with a CD playing children's Christian songs. Suddenly I was transported back to the 80's and 90's. Whenever we, as a family, got into the car, we always sang Christian songs. I think that played a big part in our children loving music as much as they do. We provided our own music, more than the radio stations.
About 7-8 years ago we lived in Ocean Lakes Campground during two winters. The house we rented also provided a golf cart. For those of you who vacation down here, you know how much fun they are. During the day I would often go by the Gould house and the Vest house and pick up grand-buddies. We would ride around, feed the ducks (and sea gulls), watch the fishermen, play in the park.
As we would ride around I would try to teach them things about sea life and other general knowledge. I am always teaching something to anyone who is interested. But one of the things I really enjoyed was teaching them little Christian songs as we rode around. So, here we were, riding around feeding ducks, fetching water, and singing,
"Stop, and let me tell you,
What the Lord has done for me,"
and
"Ho ho ho hosanna,
Ha ha hallelujah,
He He He He saves me,
I've got the joy of the Lord."
