01/06/13 LOVE OF GUNS RATHER THAN LOVE OF GOD

01/06/13 LOVE OF GUNS RATHER THAN LOVE OF GOD
(remember, God gave the sword of steel to legitimate authority to protect the righteous and punish the wicked, and He gave the sword of the Spirit to fight the fight of faith. He does not send evangels to shed blood).

GUNS WON'T SAVE AMERICA IN THE TRUEST SENSE

If Americans misuse or refuse to use their Constitutional right to worship and serve the true and living God today, it won't matter how many guns people have tomorrow.

WE ARE THE HAVES AND THE HAVE NOTS
Today we have guns, and the Church is apostatizing at an ever increasing rate.
Today we have guns and government is overthrowing the people more rabidly and rapidly than ever.

God warned us about trusting in horses and chariots (weapons of war) and He said that the arm of flesh will fail us.

WHOEVER THEY (YOU) ARE
If those who have weapons today are not standing for the right, neither will they tomorrow. We should be hearing and seeing more upheaval over the government's attack on our religious freedoms than the gun issue, but people love their guns more than they love God.

Passages and DLG notes...
Psalms 20:7
(7) Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

DLG note...
In the history of warfare, chariots and horses were incredibly powerful weapons. An infantry could be quickly overtaken and overwhelmed by a cavalry, and the war wagons and personnel transport provided by the introduction of chariots often tipped the scale of power to a quick and devastating victory.

Nonetheless, these war machines (chariots and horses) are not to be trusted by God's people. Instead, God's people can, should and must trust in the power of the living God. Chariots and horses represent modern and advanced human development in warfare, but God's people must remember that God is greater than all of man's best endeavors and achievements. Even in the natural, material realm, God's people are to look unto God, because He is our help in time of trouble.

As the enemy advances, the roar of chariots and the thunder of horses alert their foes of impending danger and doom. However, we are not to be intimidated by the concerted and concentrated effort of the enemy. We must stand, advance, conquer in the Name of God alone. It is easy to trust in the arm of flesh, but greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.

Psalms 33:16-22
(16) There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
(17) An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
(18) Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
(19) To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
(20) Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
(21) For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
(22) Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

DLG note...
God does want His people to depend on the arm of flesh or the sword of steel to accomplish His purposes. Faith in Him is the victory. Human and temporal answers are not adequate in spiritual and eternal issues. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places.

We are not only headed toward a spiritual kingdom, we are already in a spiritual kingdom. Spiritual weapons bring victory in a material world. We are called to put on the whole armor of God and then march forward in faith. We see very little miraculous deliverance because we see so little spiritual warfare.

God Protects, God Provides and God Prevails for those who trust in Him
.

Proverbs 21:31
(31) The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

DLG note...
The advanced nations around Israel had built up their cavalry and chariot military might, but God had forbidden Israel from doing the same. God wants us to trust in Him and not to depend on the arm of flesh or lean unto our own understanding. Clarke tells us that the ancient Asiatics used horses primarily for battle. Apparently Solomon had accumulated tens of thousands of horses, 1,400 chariots, and 12,000 horsemen. God could be referring to this background in this Proverb. Yet, God points out that it is Divine intervention and not human invention that wins the victory. Do not follow the ways of the people around you.

Trust in the Lord: Stand in the power of His might.
