02/13/13 SOME THINGS HAVE A BAD TASTE

"Everybody is against something, but I am for Jesus," said a friend of mine, many years ago, as if being for Jesus means we will not be against some things.

On the surface it sounds lofty and spiritual, but it is not. In fact, when we truly are "for Jesus," we are against everything that is contrary to the will of God, whether in thought, word or deed.

Christians are not negative toward life or toward individuals, but we stand against sin, which is often interpreted as being antisocial. This has always been the case. When Christians wielded greater influence, Christian beliefs and behavior were more commonly acceptable.

As there are fewer and fewer followers of Christ, Christian beliefs and principles are less palatable to society.
