06/29/13 I CAN, IF...

06/29/13 I CAN, IF...

I can stop a speeding train from plunging into a rushing river of ruin, if I can get the engineer to stop before he gets to the collapsed bridge. But, if the engineer does not hear or see my frantic warning, or does not believe there is danger, or does not take quick and decisive action, then he will continue on his course of catastrophic calamity, at the peril of clueless passengers. Sudden realization will rise up to meet him, but it will be too late.

And, it happens everyday, in spiritual matters.

2 Chronicles 36:16
(16) But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
DLG note...
There is great danger in mocking the messenger of God and rejecting the words of warning. Though God reaches out to the rebel, there comes a time when the Spirit of God does not strive with him any longer. The die is cast, the end is decided. Now, while you can, be not conformed to this world (don't be squeezed into the world mold), but be transformed by the power of God (Ro. 12:1-2)

Proverbs 6:12-19 (esp. vs. 15)
(12) A naughty (DLG... destructive, worthless) person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward (DLG... perverse) mouth.
(13) He winketh (DLG... signals intrigue) with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
(14) Frowardness (DLG... perversity) is in his heart, he deviseth mischief (DLG... harm, calamity) continually; he soweth discord.
(15) Therefore shall his calamity (DLG... ruin, destruction) come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
(16) These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
(17)
[1-] A proud look,
[2-] a lying tongue, and
[3-] hands that shed innocent blood,
(18)
[4] An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
[5] feet that be swift in running to mischief,
(19)
[6] A false witness that speaketh lies, and
[7-] he that soweth discord among brethren.

Proverbs 29:1
(1) He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
DLG note...
God reproves us because He loves us. God will judge us, if we do not heed His reproof.
The resistant sinner hardens his heart (mind, soul) against the warnings and reproofs of God, and will be ruined, unexpectedly and eternally.
