Unpopular Phrase, But Still A Valid Concept
Don't even worry about the definition of the use of the word "religion," just realize that years ago people understood it to mean, a changed life through a living relationship with Christ." It was like saying, "GIVE ME THAT OLD TIME SALVATION."
I remember when people would get saved from their sins, and then the desire, which they had for their sins became repulsion for their sins.
I remember when saved people did not resent or regret that God had delivered them from sin.
The addict was glad to be delivered from his addiction, the jealous, envious, suspicious, hateful, angry, deceitful, greedy, lustful, etc. were glad to be delivered from their sins.
Of course that was back in the day when people did not believe they could be sinning Christians, when they believed that Jesus saved His people from their sins, when sinning religion was considered to be aberrant doctrine and behavior.
Those who surrender to God's will find out that God's will is the way of real peace, joy, fulfillment.
And one more thing. Those with real salvation want to be set free from all sin, they do not want to see how little sin they can renounce, how much sin they can retain.
Without holiness of heart and life, no man shall see the Lord (He. 12:14). Come on in, the Living Water is Great.
