08/18/13 SS... HOLINESS, RIGHTEOUSNESS, JUSTICE
We had a joint SS class today (children and adults). My adult class is studying Theology, Soteriology, so I kept the theme going with the children present today.
I focused on the meaning of certain concepts and terms; Holiness (being holy),
Righteous (being right),
Justice (being fair).
I pointed out that God does that which is holy, righteous and fair, not because He keeps an external standard; and it is not because He arbitrarily sets standards and calls them good, but because the standards spring from His nature.
God is Good,
God is Holy,
God is Righteous,
God is Fair.
I then addressed Sin (nature, origin, transmission),
the promise of a Man Child,
the two Biblical uses of "Flesh,"
the necessity for the New Birth (born again, born of the Spirit).
There were other things, but this was the basic direction. Teaching time was at least an hour and a half. The children (6-10 years old) participated and seemed to be grasping some really important concepts.
