I can think of three reasons a person may continue to be Roman Catholic after the Pope publicly stated the Roman belief that FAITH IN CHRIST IS NOT ESSENTIAL, TO GO TO HEAVEN. Remember, this position is in total conflict with the clear teaching of the Bible, and of Jesus and Peter themselves.
JESUS SAID,
Luke 12:8-10
(8) Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
(9) But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
(10) And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
John 14:6
(6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
PETER SAID,
Acts 4:12
(12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Required faith in Christ is not an obscure teaching in the Bible nor is it something that needs to be explained. Still, there will be people who will continue to be Roman Catholic regardless of the total disconnect between Bible Christianity and Roman Catholicism.
THREE REASONS ROMANISTS REJECT BIBLE
Here are the three reasons I think people will remain in an anti-Christian religion.
#1. People are unashamedly committed to the Roman religion and do not care what it teaches. They have a personal history/connection with Romanism and are not concerned with doctrinal issues.
Proverbs 14:12
(12) There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
#2. People will accept the teachings of Rome because they believe that Rome has the God given right to choose their beliefs, rather than submit to the absolute authority of the Scriptures.
Matthew 15:7-9
(7) Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
(8) This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
(9) But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
#3. People will not want to turn to Biblical Christianity (the only true faith, revelation and salvation) because they do not want to turn from their sins. They like the way Romanism allows them to continue to sin, rather than God's command to sin no more.
John 3:18-21
(18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
(19) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
(20) For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
(21) But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
