10/25/13 TRUSTWORTHY AUTHORITY
We cannot trust, "childhood training" to set us on the right track, because, "childhood training" can be faulty. For instance, if a child is raised in a racially bigoted home, the child is probably going to be racially bigoted.
We cannot trust, "education" to set us on the right track, because, "education" can be politically, religiously or gender biased.
We cannot trust, "social mores" to set us on the right track, because the society may be based on moral flaw.
In fact, we cannot trust, "MANKIND," to set us on the right track, because humans are born with a selfish orientation (sinful tendency), we are shaped by our prevailing culture and we yield to pressures from our peers, community, leaders as well as our own inner desires.
We need an authoritative, all inclusive standard and an unimpeachable example to train us. We find this in the Holy Bible and the Person of Jesus Christ.
Now, here is the problem. God allows us to either accept this authority or reject it. He does not force us, in either direction. If we accept His standard (the Holy Bible), we have Jesus as our example. BUT, He is not simply an example to be imitated; He is the Sacrifice to be accepted, the Savior to be trusted and the Deliverer to be followed.
Saving faith in Christ will fly in the face of all other authorities and standards, yet the Bibles says,
John 14:6
(6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
