I was clearing up some files and contacts on my phone. Whew, what a mess. Different apps and devices and new set ups add all kinds of things and people to your... apps, devices and whatever.
It is sort of like real life. Over a period of time we accumulate associates (people), activities (projects) and affiliations (programs), either deliberately or not, whether positive or not.
Some of these were added deliberately, but they are no longer active or valid parts of our lives, yet they still occupy or require resources that should be spent elsewhere.
Others were added by default, by association with someone else or some other activity or organizational affiliation. Still, they are consumers of time and energy.
These may be fun, they may be irritating but sometimes they are just intruders and users. They may draw from you and your family and your service to God, but they do not contribute anything. They may be toxic or destructive. This is where we need to let God direct us on how to deal with them (whether associates, activities or affiliations).
While we never just forget people or write them off and throw them in the trash, we must not let them influence or impact our lives. Sometimes we just need to delete some things from our lives.
God must be the One who sets our course and we must be the ones who set our own sails.
