The problem is not that either liberally minded people or conservatively minded people are evil, or even stupid (which often true for people on both sides and in the middle). The problem has to do with the person's source of authority. Anything less than the omniscient, omnipresent, just and merciful rule of the God of the Bible is corrupted.
Since we are not going to have the Governmental rule of God, until the Millennial Rule of Christ, then Christians are "strangers and aliens" in a foreign land, living at odds with hostile, godless and anti-Bible governments. We are "salt" and "light," but we are also "despised and rejected," as was Jesus, the Prince of Peace and the Righteous Judge. Remember, Jesus said that we "are not of this world."
Our energy is not to be spent trying to revive a dead system or purify the putrid pool of a perverse world and society. Our energy is to be spent calling men to be reconciled to God, through Christ.
