02/08/13 NOT ALTERED BUT ALTAR-ED

02/08/13 NOT ALTERED BUT ALTAR-ED

Altering our behavior brings limited profit. Altar-ing our behavior has eternal and transcendent profit (1 Tm. 4:8).

The Altar is not a place to visit or a piece of furniture in a religious ceremony, but rather it is a relationship, in which to abide. Remember, the altar sanctifies the gift (Mt. 23:19). As long as we are surrendered to God on the altar of sacrifice, we are sanctified (1 Jn. 2:17). Our sanctification is not an occasional occurrence but a constant condition derived from a continuous contact (walk) with God (1 Jn. 1:7).

1 Timothy 4:8
(8) For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Matthew 23:19
(19) Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

1 John 2:17
(17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

1 John 1:7
(7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
