06/15/13 GOD'S GRACE IS GREATER

06/15/13 GOD'S GRACE IS GREATER

When a person sees himself reduced to the diminished condition of the sinner that he actually is, the enormity of his sin, guilt and corruption tends to block out the light of the glorious gospel of salvation.

I am afraid too many are overwhelmed by the magnitude of their sin, when they should look beyond their sin to God's magnificent, matchless, marvelous mercy, grace and power. For, as great as our sin has been, God has grace greater than all our sin.

Even after a person looks to Jesus for forgiveness, he sometimes fails to see that God's grace saves to the uttermost, those who come to Him by faith, in the here and now. What a shame that life on the highest plane is lost because a person sees their sin to be greater than the Savior's redemption.

GRACE GREATER THAN ALL OUR SIN
by Julia H. Johnston, 1910

1 Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured,
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilled.

Refrain
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin.

2 Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
Points to the refuge, the mighty cross.

Refrain

3 Dark is the stain that we cannot hide.
What can avail to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide,
Brighter than snow you may be today.

Refrain

4 Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
You that are longing to see His face,
Will you this moment His grace receive?

Refrain
